Ozzie’s Coffee & Tea
Ozzie’s is a spacious café with friendly staff and a wide selection of beverages and things to nosh on, including some vegan fare which is important to yours truly.
This particular Ozzie’s location is at 249 5th Ave., Brooklyn, NY 11215. The sign out front can’t be missed and if you’re walking up 5th Avenue from the south, they have an entire exterior wall painted to remind you of their website address: www.ozziescoffee.com.
If you’re taking the subway, probably the easiest route is to take the R or the M train to the Union St. Station, walk up Union one block, take a right on 5th Ave., and the shop will be three blocks down on your left.
Inside there’s a lot going on, above and beyond coffee and pastries. Art, music, books, and pottery abound. Check out the Empty Bowls Project, a collection of handmade bowls available for sale, all the proceeds from which go to feed the hungry at C.H.I.P.S. (not to be confused with CHiPs). Wouldn’t your dice collection look exceedingly handsome in one of these finely crafted bowls? Not to mention the magnitude of class you’d bring to the gaming tablescape by serving your munchies in these.
The games themselves are located on the bookshelf just across from the counter with all your creams, sugars, and other beverage accessories. There are quite a few other books lying about on those shelves, so you may have to dig a little, but it’s well worth the effort.
Games that can be found at this location:
